Congrats on the job! Stability is a huge thing. I traded freelance writing for a nonprofit job a few years ago. It’s been a relief -- and also sad, I desperately miss journalism. But I have also found unexpected satisfaction in the writing I am doing. I hope the same for you.

Also, this newsletter is such a joy. I look forward to the quote and your openness each week. Thank you!

Beautiful words as always, AC! Congratulations on your new role, and welcome to the world of Tech! You're spot-on that it's a great fit for people with a journalistic background; I made the same shift <10 years after graduating with a Journalism degree and the skills I'd gained fit really well in a requirements-driven space where people (users) frequently get overlooked despite being the consumer of the product! I know you're gonna ace this career change and I'm really happy for you that you have access to benefits etc as part of the package! Looking forward to hearing more :)

Congratulations! That chickie on Momma's head photo would make an amazing insipid inspiration poster if you need another writing outlet and/or inspiration.

Congratulations!! I love to hear when a change like that presents itself at the right time. It makes me feel like the universe is more in order than I give it credit for. Best of luck. (Though I'll miss your journalism! But also, speaking from the other side -- it's great to not have to stew in the anxiety of journalism any more!)

And gosh darn it, those chickies are so adorable!! The hens are beautiful too! Congrats on your expanded brood.

Woohoo. This should be a win/win. You're awesome, and they need you, but you also need the stability that employment outside journalism can provide. Wonderful that you can do it from the farm! I hope Mother's Day becomes less bittersweet for you over time as you either make peace with your path of mothering animals and plants instead of humans or (maybe) get the opportunity to mother a human.
