The live pines are a fantastic idea, and maybe, just maybe, you could have enough of them to attract wild quail. Wild bobwhite quail used to be commonplace but their habitat losses have devastated their populations. They tend to prefer specific pines for nesting and foraging. You never know what your Christmas trees might grow.

🎄We moved from apartment living in Manhattan to an actual house! When I was a kid. Every Christmas my dad bought a tree with roots wrapped in a burlap ball and we’d plant it in our yard. Your newsletter just reminded me! 🎄

When I was a kid, we planted our Christmas trees. (My dad was very green before green was a thing!) We cherished those trees for the rest of their lives. We had to sell the place after they were gone. But once in a rare while, I get back to the old place & drive by. Those trees still stand and are testimony to what a lovely little family we were. ❤️
