You are worthy of love and acceptance exactly as you are. Let your love shine bright.
Happy Pride Month from Juliet and all the critters at Good Spirits Farm. If your family isn’t supportive, you’re always welcome in our little farm family. And to everyone passing laws that actively harm the folks we love (lookin’ at you, Tennessee):
Here’s What’s Happening At Good Spirits Farm
I….actually have no idea what’s happening at Good Spirits Farm? I tested positive for Covid on Sunday, and I have been in pure survival mode since. Suddenly, anything not directly related to keeping animals alive has gone by the wayside. In the evenings, I gather all my strength and trudge out to fill water tanks and move the herd to fresh pasture. I sweat like a pig and have to take breaks every 2-3 minutes—hands on my knees, my heart pounding from the effort. It is very, very humbling.
The garden, the mowing, the weed eating, the compost pile turning, and the bee hive tending has all been put on hold. I keep telling myself it will all be fine. I’ll get to it eventually. (I suspect this is a lie. I am fairly sure I am falling so far behind I’ll never get to any of it. But maybe that’s the fever talking.) As of right now, every being on the farm is still alive, so I am counting that as a win.
I did make time to pick a few strawberries between coughing fits. It was nice to have that bright sweetness confirm that at least I haven’t lost my sense of taste!
Here’s What I Loved This Week
Moms! Aren’t they just great? Not only did mine drop off emergency tissues (and the good kind, with the lotion in them!!) this week, but she offered to do a grocery pickup too. As my overcooked brain scrolled through Kroger’s online ordering platform, I rejoiced when I saw the first cherries of the season. YES, so cool, sweet, and nice! I thought as I added them to my cart. NO! I thought as I saw my grocery total jump $11 (11!!!!!) dollars. Remorsefully, I deleted them from my order. Of course, my mom—not knowing about my in-the-cart-out-of-the-cart drama showed up with my grocery order PLUS a bag of fresh cherries she’d picked up because she knew I’d love them. Moms! They just know what you need!
Sending you all the healing vibes AC- the flerd is so fortunate to have you, in health and in sickness!
Thank you, mom, for bringing those cherries.
Hope you can rest and be extra, extra kind to yourself while you work through this.
