Here’s What’s Happening At Good Spirits Farm

• The dreaded molt has arrived! Our girls are starting to lose their feathers! It’s a ton of work to grow a bunch of feathers, so they’ll stop laying eggs for a while. The poor things look pretty pathetic with their old feathers coming out in tufts.

• Benni is looking very pregnant and mostly seems annoyed when Julia goes on a bucking tear around their pasture. I keep telling her to hang in there, only a month to go! While Julia runs around, Benni gets lots of extra back scritches and cow cookies; I feel it’s the least I can do to thank her for all the work she’s doing!

• We got a burst of fall weather last week that was a false alarm. I think all the critters (I’m a critter too!) are hoping cooler temps arrive and stick around soon!
  

Here’s What I Loved This Week

• My friend Sophie Vershbow is embroidering masks and sending them to folks who donate $50 to an organization doing get-out-the-vote work. I was so happy to donate to Reclaim Our Vote and get this awesome mask to wear around town. Voting has never been more clucking important, y’all. See you chickens at the polls!
