You are so inspiring! Always leaping out of your comfort zone to do the necessary work to keep the farm going. Your animals (and bees) are so lucky to have made their way to Good Spirits Farm. May the next chapter of your life bring you nothing but joy! Thank you for sharing with all of us.
Thanks so much, Kim! Whew, it doesn't FEEL very inspiring to feel always out of your comfort zone, but I am so grateful to have a network of people cheering me on! Here's to more joy in the next chapter!
Asking for help can be so difficult, but people want to, and will, show up. Whatever happens in the future, you know you've got this--and you have the sheep, Veli, the chickens and a community of support. Sending good wishes for the journey ahead!
Divorced farmer lady in Boulder, Colorado here. Found you from the Outside articles. Stayed for the chicken and vulnerability content ;) It’s so f-ing hard! But the wins are huge too. Your property and critters love you, even if they spit in your eye sometimes. Stick it out. And we’re all here cheering you on!!
You did so well!! All of this stuff is hard ALL of it. So glad you got some help when needed, I think that’s part of what we’re supposed to learn. No one can do it all.
I’m happy to be on your team cheering you on. And as someone who learned to drive a tractor (and change the oil filter) at 48 or so, I feel great solidarity with the feeling of “don’t take out the fencing!” (or anyone’s car), combined with “how cool is this?”
AC, you aren't alone. AND...this song has gotten me through a heck of a lot of singing at the top of my lungs to survive a divorce drives...May it give you the the energy you need to thrive through the same. "Give my goddamn records and my clothes back, cause I'm through. Oh, how I'm through..." https://youtu.be/dc3Gp4nEq_s
Oh man, my heart goes out to you! We have a small farm and I wonder what I would do if anything happened and I had to do it all myself. Not to sound too 'out there' but we always carry our inner guide with us and sometimes we need to listen to what they say rather than our ego. I speak only from my own experience. I'm rooting for you!
Hoping you can find sources of energy to keep on going, both for yourself and selfishly for those of us who so love the chicken content.
(And I remember in my first year after separation many, many tears of exhaustion as 5'1" me hauled gardening equipment, timber, etc up 100+ near-vertical steps to and from the 'marital home' I had to rehab before I could sell and move on)

You are so strong AC. And you have good neighbors. And the farm is its own reward. We are rooting for you. Jim
